I joined the Barefoot Stallholder Program after reading an article about one of the co-founders, Nancy Traversy, in Better Homes & Gardens magazine and then going online to find out more about this amazing children's book publishing company. I was immediately drawn not only to the beautiful products but also to the diversity of the stories and the quality of the artwork in every book. However, I was so busy raising a toddler and a baby and teaching 5th grade part time that it took me over a year to make the decision to become a Stallholder. Well, now I wish I had started sooner! Barefoot Books has become my passion — as well as my children's! Of all of the books that are on my children's bookshelves, Barefoot Books are their favorites! They are books that they want to read again and again...and again! Because the stories vary in both interest level and format (from fun board books to hardcover stories to books with CDs and matching puzzles) they tend to choose Barefoot Books more often than any others.
I enjoy sharing Barefoot Books in many ways — through home parties, catalog sales, school fundraisers, and personal selling. Because of my experience as an elementary school teacher I have a vested interest in promoting the importance of reading with children. I've found that my own two children love to read because they have been read to since they were born and they have many, many opportunites to read through the variety of books in our home. Barefoot Books has made it possible for me to share my passion about reading and the importance of reading with children!
